NJ’s Hetherington Group to Honor Men & Women in Blue with Free Cybersecurity Training During National Police Week

(Wanaque, NJ) Today, in recognition of National Police Week, the Hetherington Group (Hg) is hosting a free three-hour training session to over 100 municipal, state, and federal law enforcement personnel as well as personnel from the Department of Homeland Security. Training sessions, conducted by Cynthia Hetherington, founder and president of Hg, will offer the latest cybersecurity techniques for open source and geo-monitoring searches and dark web searches, respectively. While past trainings were held in person, this year’s instruction will be conducted online in order to protect officers through social distancing. This free offering is available until May 16, 2020 to all law enforcement officials. Interested participants should email Hg at [email protected] for the registration link.

National Police Week is observed each May, with a Candlelight Vigil held each May 13th to honor fallen officers. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, founded in 1984, is one of the principle organizers of the annual commemoration. As frontliners, police officers are at risk of contracting the coronavirus: 23 officers have died from COVID-19. This year the Candlelight Vigil will be held virtually due to the global pandemic. You can register here to join the online community vigil.

“National Police Week is always a highlight of our year,” says Cynthia Hetherington. “Getting into the community and giving back to those who keep us safe is as rewarding today as 20 years ago. Our team feels honored that we can keep our blue line informed on the latest social media, OSINT and advanced internet resources.”
