NJ’s Hetherington Group Provides Ongoing Public Service Information & Tips for Protecting Against Predators of the COVID-Kind

(Wanaque, NJ) Today, Hetherington Group established three ongoing public service blogs to help the public protect against fraudulent predators taking advantage of individuals during the coronavirus pandemic. Information and tips will be updated weekly on our blog pages for Senior Exploitation, Children Exploitation, and Employees & Businesses.

“While billions of people are under stay-at-home and work from home orders, predators are taking advantage of people’s fears, anxiety, and losses at mind-numbing proportions,” said Cynthia Hetherington, founder and president of Hg. “Children, who are now spending more time online for schooling, are targets for exploitation by pedophiles. Seniors are vulnerable from financial scams, and businesses are vulnerable from hacking, phishing, and cybercrimes. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, they have received 106% increase in CyberTipline reports in March 2020 compared to March 2019 and a 318% increase in April compared to April 2019. From March 3-10 INTERPOL conducted Operation Pangea, which covered 90 countries. 4.4 million units of illicit pharmaceuticals and 37,000 unauthorized and counterfeit medical devices (e.g., surgical masks, self-testing kits for HIV and glucose monitoring) were seized globally.
