NJ’s Hetherington Group to Provide Free OSINT Training for Over 65 Men & Women in Blue

(Woodland Park, NJ) Today, in recognition of National Police Week, Hetherington Group (Hg) is hosting a free day of OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) training to over 65 municipal, state, and federal law enforcement personnel. Held at the US Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms headquarters in Woodland Park, NJ, the training sessions will be conducted by a team of Hg’s OSINT experts: Cynthia Hetherington, founder and president; Matthew Golabek, Investigative Analyst, and Megan Munoz, Director of Education and Knowledge Management. This all-day event offers six Continuing Education Units in open source intelligence, including social media searches, asset recovery, and dark web marketplaces.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. This year, National Police Week is observed from May 11–17. On Friday, May 13, the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum held the 34th Annual Candlelight Vigil to honor the fallen officers whose names have recently been added to the Memorial.

“We are honored to provide this OSINT training to our law enforcement personnel who put their lives on the line every day,” says Cynthia Hetherington. “Hg has a long history of working closely with our law enforcement partners, and we take that history seriously. We are pleased to provide open source and dark web training that will arm our partners with knowledge not only to help protect our communities but to protect themselves in the line of duty.”

Headquartered in Wanaque, New Jersey, Hetherington Group holds national certification as a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and certification as a National Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest third-party certifier of women-owned businesses in the United States. Only small businesses and enterprises owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a female majority are eligible for WBENC certification. These certifications are recognized by many federal, state, municipal governments as well as public, private, and not-for-profit enterprises. Through this certification process, WBENC promotes diversity and facilitates the development of women-owned businesses and enterprises. Believing knowledge and transparency are key to building partnerships and making sound decisions, Hg consistently consults on myriad international, federal, state, and local investigations and annually trains over 8,000 investigators, security professionals, attorneys, accountants, auditors, military intelligence professionals, and federal, state, and local agencies on best practices world-wide.
