When determining whether a potential expert witness would pass muster, investigators review data confirming (or not) the person’s skill level, proficiencies, education, work history, and certifications. An OSINT investigator needs search tools that go beyond the generalized Google resource.

 

In this hands-on, intermediate to advanced webinar, participants will learn how search engine resources, databases, such as Daubert Tracker and Hg.org Legal Resources, and social media platforms can be accessed and utilized to conduct advanced Internet searches on potential experts. We will also discuss how to track down older online material. Upon completion of the course, field investigators will be able to

  • Perform expert witness background checks by identifying the most useful search engine resources, databases, and social media platforms
  • Determine a potential expert witness’s qualifications by scrutinizing cyber intel on courts, parties, judges, and attorneys through a wide range of docket years
  • Identify specialized, subject-specific search engines, including the location of process servers in innumerable jurisdictions
  • Understand how to keep up with new search engines for investigations and research

 

All participants will receive handouts on concepts and investigative techniques.
