The Alice in Cyberspace Conference Identifies Pathways for Women to Pursue Cyber Intelligence Work

Ms. Hetherington to introduce interested women to the tradecraft of cyber investigations and intelligence

(Wanaque, NJ) Cynthia Hetherington, founder and president of Hetherington Group (Hg), will be presenting at the New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell’s (NJCCIC) bi-annual conference, Alice in Cyberspace 2021 to be held February 17 and February 24 from 12-2 pm on a virtual platform to protect against the spread of the coronavirus. The NJCCIC is a component organization within the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness—the State’s one-stop-shop for cyber threat analysis, incident reporting, and information sharing.

Ms. Hetherington’s commitment to community service includes mentoring young girls and aspiring women to reach out and grasp professional opportunities in field of cyber intelligence and investigations.

“There continues to be a workforce shortage in the field of cyber intelligence and investigations,” noted Ms. Hetherington. “Among this shortage is a dearth of women intelligence professionals. It’s up to women in the profession to introduce them to our tradecraft and show them the cyberpath toward employment. I am proud to be part of the solution.”

The Alice in Cyberspace conference aims to inspire more women to take on the challenge of working in cybersecurity and provides insights on pathways into this career field. It is geared towards women who are pursuing, plan to pursue, or are currently in careers and leadership roles in cybersecurity. This event is free for NJCCIC members and will feature speakers at various points in their cybersecurity careers, including senior leadership, mid-level professionals, and aspiring professionals.

For more than 25 years, Ms. Hetherington has led national and international investigations in corporate due diligence and fraud, personal asset recovery, and background checks. With a specialization in the financial, pharmaceutical, and telecommunications industries, her investigations have recovered millions of dollars in high profile corruption cases, assisting on the investigations of the top two Ponzi cases in United States history. Ms. Hetherington is a recipient of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ James Baker Speaker of the Year Award, was named a 2019 finalist in the esteemed Ernst & Young LLP New Jersey Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and was honored with the 2019 Enterprising Women of the Year award.
