To celebrate National Police Week, Hetherington Group will be hosting a day of in-person training on May 16th, 2023 at no cost to active law enforcement.

OSINT for Officers
6 hours | 6 CEUs

This course aims to teach its students how to locate, capture, prove, and preserve information located on the internet. This is an intermediate level of training for investigators on OSINT and social media; focusing on critical thinking, best practices, and tools for both criminal and non-criminal investigations. Investigators will learn how to effectively research hard-to-find users behind hidden accounts, pulling the veil away from the secrets, revealing what the latest social media challenges are presenting, and how to solve them. This one-day training includes a special and not often-taught Officer Safety instruction session on Personally Identifying Information Removal.

Learning objectives include

  • Critical thinking, vetting, and verifying information discovered through OSINT approaches
  • Outline useful steps for identifying an unknown person behind a username
  • Explore case examples to retain those steps
  • Introduce future challenges
  • Understand your vulnerabilities and how to scrub your data
